Twice Baked Flagship Horses

Soleil of Badger

Soleil of Badger, better known and loved as “Spud,” is a 2016 sorrel gelding by Reys Dual Badger out of AP Frosty Girl (granddaughter of Sun Frost). Spud is a 2x “reject” and is on his third or fourth baking. As of now, he’s not going anywhere and will remain with Twice Baked for the rest of his life.

He was born on a cutting ranch in Indiana and didn’t make the cut (ha ha) for that job, and if we had to guess based on his personality and “charm,” it was probably because he was scared to death of the flag. He then went to a barrel trainer and then another . . . he almost made the title
of reject barrel horse as well. When Ringo got him he was totally nuts and prone to bronc-ing his rider off in the middle of the barrel pattern. He’s still nuts, but with a lot of time, effort, trust-building, sweat equity, and love from Ringo, he’s a pretty darn good rocket donkey now.

Spud’s LTE is easily over $15K (working on figuring that out in winter 2025 when we have some spare time). He is 1D local, 1D/2D regional, and 2D/3D super show. He has broken into the 1D at super shows, but he typically pays his way with amazing consistency and big checks at the top of the 2D. Put him up against any other pure cow bred horse on the East Coast and he’ll give them a run for their money (and take it) every time!

Sunny

Sunny was pulled from an auction to be used in a dressage lesson program. The trainer he was assigned to had 2 weeks to turn him into a lesson horse or it was back to the auction. Sunny was essentially feral and hated dressage, so the trainer decided to keep him and try to find him a new home instead of sending him back to the auction. He ended up at the barn Allison boarded at and she was asked to try him in a western saddle to see if he had potential to be advertised for any western disciplined. Allison threw her saddle on him, gave him a whirl and knew he’d make a good barrel horse. She asked his price, and the rest is history. Sunny has won numerous awards including 3 saddles since Allison has owned him. He is the most consistent and honest partner. He is extremely quirky and takes his job entirely too seriously but we love him all the more for it! Sunny is the King of Three Walmers Farm and will live out the rest of his days there.
